Hot Tub & Spa Cleaning

Hot Tub & Spa Tile Cleaning in Lakeway

Spas and hot tubs build up calcium faster than pools because the water is hotter and evaporation is constant. We clean attached pool spas, standalone hot tubs, and freestanding spas using the same safe bead blasting process — at a smaller scale.

Why Hot Tub Calcium Is Worse Than Pool Calcium

A pool sits at outdoor air temperature most of the day. A spa or hot tub runs at 100–104°F. Hot water evaporates faster than cool water, and faster evaporation means faster mineral deposition.

The result: a spa that gets used regularly can develop visible calcium scale in 12 to 18 months. The same buildup takes 3 to 5 years on a pool.

Most Lakeway spa owners notice it first as a rough or chalky feel along the waterline, then as a visible white or grey ring around the tile. By the time the buildup is dramatic, it's been there for a while.

Spa Types We Clean

Attached pool spas. Spas built into the same structure as your pool, sharing water or with their own dedicated spillover. We typically clean these as part of a combined pool and spa service.

In-ground standalone spas. Built-in spas separate from a pool, common in Lakeway backyards as a primary water feature.

Above-ground spas with tile. Hot tubs with tiled interiors or tile waterline bands.

Acrylic and fiberglass hot tubs. We don't typically clean these surfaces with bead blasting — they require different techniques. We'll tell you honestly during the assessment if your hot tub is a good candidate.

Commercial spas. HOA, hotel, gym, and resort spas with heavy calcium buildup from constant use.

If You Have Both a Pool and a Spa

Most Lakeway homes with a built-in spa also have a pool, and the calcium buildup affects both. We service them together in a single visit, which is more efficient and less expensive than booking two separate jobs.

Combined service includes:

  • Pool waterline tile cleaning
  • Spa interior tile cleaning
  • Spillover wall between pool and spa
  • Tile band around the spa lip
  • Any waterfall, scupper, or fountain features
  • Stone coping cleaning where present

If your spa is the only surface with significant calcium, we can also do spa-only service. It's faster and cheaper than a full pool job — usually 1 to 1.5 hours instead of 2 to 3.

What's Different About Spa Cleaning

The bead blasting process for a spa is essentially the same as for a pool, but with three adjustments:

Lower water reduction. Spas are smaller, so we lower the water proportionally less — typically 4 to 6 inches instead of 6 to 10.

Tighter quarters. Spas have less working space, more corners, and more jets. We work carefully around fittings to avoid hitting them with media.

Faster turnaround. Spa-only service usually takes 60 to 90 minutes from setup to cleanup, compared to 2 to 3 hours for a standard pool.

You can use the spa the same day, once it's refilled and reheated.

Spa Cleaning Questions

How often does my spa need cleaning?

Most Lakeway spas need calcium removal every 12 to 24 months, depending on how often you use it and your water hardness. Pools typically go 2 to 3 years between cleanings. Spas need it about twice as often.

Can you clean around the jets?

Yes. We work carefully around jet fittings, lights, and other hardware. We don't disassemble equipment but we do clean the surfaces immediately surrounding it.

Will the cleaning affect my spa chemistry?

No more than a normal water change. After refilling, you'll want to rebalance pH, alkalinity, and sanitizer levels as you normally would after adding fresh water.

What about saltwater spas?

Same process. Bead blasting works on saltwater spas just like chlorine spas.

My spa has been neglected for years. Can you still clean it?

Almost certainly yes. Heavy buildup takes longer but bead blasting handles even severely calcified surfaces. Send us photos with your quote request.
